Because LEAGUE's mission is to effect long-term change in the world -- not just short-term change in your pocket -- we adhere to a long list of ethical commitments:
Ethical responsibility
First and foremost is Our Credo. Its principles assure accountability to our Member-Partners and the communities in which we operate, not just legally, but also morally and ethically. These principles, together with our employee and director Codes of Conduct, guide every aspect of our conduct every day. And they always will.
The 16th tenet of Our Credo states: "We believe that as leaders in the investment community we must operate our business affairs with transparency, and in the light of accurate knowledge." The 17th tenet states: "We believe that along with a foundation of unshakable trust, strong Member-Partnerships require ongoing up-to-date information and education."
To fulfill these directives, we provide prospective Member-Partners with our Blue Book of Real Estate Syndication, comprehensive Investment Primers1, and the IGW REIT's Offering Memorandum.2 The latter contains nearly 200 pages of specific investments disclosure and annual audited and quarterly unaudited financial statements.
Investment Guarantee
The LEAGUE Investment Guarantee means your interests are always aligned with ours. When you invest with LEAGUE you can be assured that we'll work hard to create additional value for you because it is in our own best interest to do so. We call this the Principle of Positive-Interdependence. You might think of it as the Golden Rule with an entrepreneurial twist. It's one of the many things that makes us different.
Assurance and Insurance
We all know that certain investment managers have recently been found or suspected to have carried out fraud on a massive scale, causing pain and suffering to families and charitable organizations that entrusted their investments to them. Such actions show what happens when greed takes control. LEAGUE's insurance broker, Aon Reed Stenhouse3-- a global presence in the industry -- provided us with a $10,000,000 Executive Liability policy assuring that Member-Partners are protected against wrongful acts committed by, or at the direction of LEAGUE's executives; and a $5,000,000 Employee Fidelity policy, which protects investors from acts of fraud by LEAGUE staff members.4
So while Member-Partners have always been protected by security regulations, they are now additionally protected by these new insurance policies.
Transparency
Keeping Member-Partners informed is very important to us.5 Proof of our commitment to transparency, as set out in 16th, 17th and 18th tenets of Our Credo, can be found in our Updates section. Take note of the extent to which we keep everyone informed. We pride ourselves in our communications and transparency policies, and we think you'll be hard-pressed to find any that rival ours.
Accountability
Especially in times such as these when so many financial leaders have been "weighed in the balance and found wanting", we're proud to lead the way by publicly measuring our private performance. To our knowledge, LEAGUE is a leader in at least two respects: first, no other private REIT conducts quarterly unit revaluations; and second, no other conducts independent semiannual total portfolio reappraisals.6 Thus Member-Partners are always assured that their investments are continually and independently priced.
Member Service Oath
In our recent Members' Satisfaction Survey, 91% of respondents said they would confidently recommend LEAGUE to others. This speaks volumes about our commitment to Member Service, but is not really surprising considering we're Member-Partners ourselves!
We invite you to put us to the test. See for yourself that we do what we say we'll do. Give us a call. You'll never have to plead for attention. And if you ever feel we've made a mistake, just let us know (politely, please) and we'll adhere to the 2nd tenet of Our Credo: "When mistakes are made we will acknowledge them openly, correct them immediately, and look upon each as an opportunity to gain valuable lessons from the experience."
Professional Personnel
A visit to the Contact section and a review of the monthly updates is a testament to our commitment to working only with the best and brightest professionals. With some 1,700 Member-Partners to date, and more joining every week, we will continually add personnel and invest in equipment and systems to ensure that LEAGUE sets the standard for investment management, communications and member services.
Social Responsibility
LEAGUE Charitable Foundation is a newly formed philanthropic arm of LEAGUE Financial Partners. Its objective is to tackle homelessness and poverty-at home and around the world. To do so, the Foundation promotes economic justice - which includes equal access to education and capital, as well as the basic needs of food, clothing, shelter, and medicine, free of racial, political, gender or religious discrimination. These are the same principles that guide all of LEAGUE's investment activities.
LEAGUE also invites its Member-Partners to make use of the Foundation's "fee-free" donor advised giving and investing. Administration services for the Foundation are provided by LEAGUE, so there are no overhead costs. Thus the full amount of a Member-Partner's donation is directed to their organization of choice.
